The Bologna Ragazzi Award 2010 for Fiction! For connoisseurs the most prestigious prize for illustration. This prize had never before been awarded to a Dutch illustrator. The presentation in Bologna was celebrated Italian style with full media coverage and laudatory words.

De boomhut is wise, vivid, and poetic. A topos in the collective imagination revisited, revealing its relevance to our times. Marije Tolman and Ronald Tolman return to the “house in the trees”. Father and daughter's Treehouse, however, is also rich in subtle cultural references ranging from symbolist painting to the most refined twentieth century prints.
